1960s Series- Holly meets Hitchcock
For the third shoot in my 1960s series I chose to do something for the first time and mesh characters from two different films. Holly Golighty from Breakfast at Tiffany's is so deep-seeded in my ideas of life and fashion that I find it hard not to include her look a bit in everything (especially since I am the subject and model in this shoot). Additionally, I've always looked up to Hitchcock's heroines as the thinking man's Bond Girl. Here I show how simply with the change of glasses, hair and a trench one can go from a brainiac cerebral to a lady of leisure.

1960s Series- French New Wave/ Anna Karina
For my second shoot from the 1960s series, I chose to do Anna Karina from any of her various French New Wave films. My friend Niky from over at La Mia Vita was my subject and she has just the right amount of sweetness to capture the look. Women from this genre were able to so effectively dazzle while doing the most mundane of things. Stripes are of course essentially French.

1960s Series- Bye Bye Birdie
As films and clothing from the 1960s are an integral part of who I am as a stylist and filmmaker, this will be the first in an ongoing series on my blog. Today we did a shoot with my friends Alex and Nicole as well as myself. This is the first shoot set in the style of a giddy Ann Margaret from Bye Bye Birdie. This film's campiness is pure gold. I aspired to be as confident as Ann Margaret in this film as a child. For Al's look I wanted her to be luxurious yet comfortable. Just because you're laying around doesn't mean you can't be glamorous.

The Royal Tenenbaums- Margot
For the last look from my Tenenbaum's inspired shoot, I chose to go with one of my favorite characters in all film, Margot Tenenbaum. I find Margot to be a character whose physicality reveals much of her identity. While she says very little, her wardrobe fills in the gaps. From the eccentric granny accruements to the old world preppy tennis dress, she embodies a women like no other. What I find is so modern about this look is the ability to use what you already have in your closet. She is truly a recessionista.
